Appraisals & Fees

The Basics

Artísia charges $75/billable hour and has a two-hour minimum fee for on-site consultations or inspections of artwork.

The time necessary to meet your needs depends on the nature of the consulting or valuation assignment. When it comes to formal appraisals, the length of time required depends on the type of report created and the complexity of the subject artwork and its market. Artísia’s fees are not based on the value of artwork appraised.

Note: Set fees for consulting assignments and appraisals of multiple pieces are negotiable depending on the assignment.

Sample Services

Self-Contained Appraisal

~Hourly rate applies; deposit required~

This is the most involved and lengthy type of appraisal; for a single work of art, this report often exceeds 20 pages in length.  Self-Contained Appraisal Reports are intended for valuations involving the IRS or legal proceedings.

Summary Appraisal

~Hourly rate applies; deposit required~

Like a Self-Contained Report, a Summary Report is an official appraisal; however, it contains less narrative and detail.  A Summary Report is often suitable for insurance related purposes.

Market Report – $195

A Market Report is for those who are curious about the current market for a work of art but don’t need a formal appraisal for insurance, legal or IRS purposes. It reports where works either identical or comparable to yours are currently bought and sold and what asking and/or realized prices they have giving consideration to both the auction and retail market levels.  It includes contact information for entities that may be outlets for selling your particular artwork.  Please note that this report does not conclude an official value or analyze the most ‘relevent’ or ‘common’ market for artwork; it is intended for personal or in-house business use only.

Basic Email Consultation – $35

While all artwork has value of some kind (aesthetic, historic or sentimental), sometimes it’s difficult to know if a particular piece has monetary value and a current active market.  An email consultation helps you determine this.  It includes basic artist and artwork identification as well as a professional opinion on value range (presented as above or below $300, $1000 or higher).  This will help you determine whether your artwork merits a formal appraisal report and inspection.  (Please note that email consultation services do not constitute a formal appraisal.  Formal appraisal services are described above.)

The fee for a basic email consultation is $35 for one work of art.

If you would like email consultation services, please send the following information to email hidden; JavaScript is required:

1. Photos of the artwork including one of the work overall, its signature (if it has a signature) and the back of it
2. The dimensions of the artwork to the nearest quarter-inch
3. The title of the artwork and the artist’s name (if known)
4. Your name & phone number

Once this information has been received, you will be contacted for payment information.  Artísia accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.  Arrangements can also be made to perform this basic consultation via mail if you prefer to send actual photos.  If for some reason we are not able to identify your artwork, you will not be charged.
